Resident Evil 2 Remake Confirmed for Xbox One and PC

One of the biggest surprises from Sony’s E3 2018 press conference was the announcement of the Resident Evil 2 remake. However, the game being shown at Sony’s press conference and the accompanying trailer only having PlayStation logos led some fans to believe that itd would be a PlayStation 4 exclusive. However, we can confirm that is not the case.

As it turns out, the Resident Evil 2 remake will be available for PC and Xbox One as well as PlayStation 4. This has since been confirmed by Capcom and retail listings for the game. The PC and Xbox One versions of the Resident Evil 2 remake will be available on the same date as the PS4 version, January 25, 2019, and it will even feature some enhancements for those who play it on an Xbox One X console.

It’s unclear exactly how the Resident Evil 2 remake will be enhanced on Xbox One X, but fans can expect similar improvements when playing the game on a PS4 Pro. Details on how the more powerful consoles will improve the Resident Evil 2 experience should come to light as we near the game’s release date early next year.

In the meantime, a lot of other information has come out about the Resident Evil 2 remake since its E3 2018 reveal trailer. For example, the game’s pre-order bonuses have been announced, and we also know that it will feature an over-the-shoulder camera like Resident Evil 4, as opposed to the fixed camera angles used in the original version of the game.

The use of an over-the-shoulder camera wasn’t entirely clear to anyone who only watched the trailer shown at Sony’s press conference. Shortly after the conference wrapped, a gameplay trailer was released online that showed numerous instances of the over-the-shoulder camera in action. For the most part, combat in the game looks very similar to Resident Evil 4, which may prove to be a controversial decision on Capcom’s part.

While some purists may prefer the fixed camera angles, there’s also no denying Resident Evil 4‘s legacy as one of the most critically-acclaimed games of all time. Ultimately, it will be up to the fans to decide if they prefer the Resident Evil 2 remake’s new direction, and they will be able to test the game on their platform of choice.

The Resident Evil 2 remake will launch on January 25, 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
