Not too long ago, CD Projekt Red debuted a new trailer for its forthcoming action-RPG Cyberpunk 2077, offering fans a glimpse into the world of Night City and all of its futuristic inhabitants. Now, the studio has decided to provide about a few details as to the type of story that will unfold, how long it lasts, and how the dialogue system will work.

The plot of Cyberpunk 2077 will take place in an open world and follow the story of V, who is described as “a hired gun on the rise in Night City,” with the character sure to face some formidable foes along the way. After all, the location is classified as “the most violent and dangerous metropolis of the corporate-ruled future.”

As far as Cyberpunk 2077‘s role-playing elements are concerned, players will be able to utilize a “robust” character creator that will allow for the selection of V’s gender, outward appearance, class, and even historical background. Interestingly enough, CD Projekt Red has stated that each decision a player makes regarding these details “influence the shape of the game.”

According to CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 contains “dozens of hours of main story arc quests”, and it seems as if Night City will have its fair share of side quests too, that offer “many more additional activities. As explained by the developer, players will “experience all of it entirely through V’s eyes,” which is a reference to the title being in first-person. What’s more is that the game includes “an interactive dialogue system” in order to give players better “narrative agency”.

CD Projekt Red also made mention of the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 will feature the studio’s “hallmark of choices and consequences” suggesting that each utterance and action will have weight in the grand scheme of the story. As a matter of fact, the studio has stated that “players will face difficult decisions that will ripple through the entire game” as they make their way through Night City’s streets populated with “sky-scraping megabuildings”.

All things considered, Cyberpunk 2077 sounds like quite the ambitious undertaking due to the depth of player options and the size of the game, as CD Projekt Red has previously described the project as being “far, far bigger” than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Plus, with no microtransactions, Cyberpunk 2077 will definitely be one to keep an eye on, as the studio could be hiding yet another fun little hidden teaser message in its promos.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and lacks an official release date.
